I.T. Data Base Specialist
Location: Anchorage
Status: Full Time Perm

The Data Base Specialist is responsible for providing technical support for the database environment including overseeing the development and organization of Akeela’s Electronic Medical Records database. The Database Specialist trains and supports staff to better utilize the EMR database. The Database Specialist will help in the development of a security scheme for the database environment, as well as assisting in disaster recovery as necessary. The Database Specialist will also be responsible for providing leadership during the development and enhancement of the databases including working with applications, technical support and operations of the EMR system. During the rollout, the Database Specialist will work with others in IT to build the logical database area and provide technical guidance during all phases of the development process. The Database Specialist will work with vendors in evaluating and implementing new database technologies.

Competencies:
The I.T. Data Base Specialist must be able to demonstrate competency in the following areas:

I.T. Support Specialist
Location: Ketchikan
Status: Part Time 20 hrs weekly

Position Summary:
Provide consultation, support, and/or training to staff of computer or other information technology based systems. Employees are located throughout the state. Job may be handled over the phone or in person.  I.T Staff will provide basic support of hardware, applications, operating systems and networking.
I.T Staff will interact with a broad range of clients requiring strong communication skills and ability to use a variety of technical resources for providing technical support. I.T Staff may refer complex technical problems or questions to the I.T Operations Manager.

Job Duties:

  • Support the agency’s staff by providing software and hardware support daily either over the phone or in person.
  • Support remote network management software and monitoring.
  • Perform workstation/client configuration and editing, setup, configuration and maintenance of systems hardware.
  • Perform diagnosis of systems hardware and software problems.
  • Install new software and software upgrades, install and maintain LAN/WAN sites.

    • Perform general maintenance to include, basic carpentry, basic plumbing, basic electrical, painting, flooring repair/replace, counter/cabinet repair and vehicle repair/ maintenance. 
    • At the direction of your supervisor, outsource non-routine work to approved vendors, and when necessary accompany repairmen while they are completing the repairs.
    • Prioritize and process Maintenance Request Forms. 
    • Maintain accountability of agency tools and equipment.
    • Conduct monthly physical plant inspections at transitional housing.
    • Requisition and purchase supplies for facility repairs.  Turn in all receipts and invoices with the appropriate paperwork in a timely fashion.
    • Work with State and local agencies to ensure all inspections and certifications are conducted as needed.
    • Train all Akeela Drivers in vehicle safety checks, emergency supplies, accident procedures, etc. using the Vehicle Training information.

        Night Monitor
        Location: Anchorage
        Status: Part Time / On-Call
        Wage: $11.00hr

        Position Summary:

        Provides supervision of the facility during the night (typically 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.) including maintaining security and safety as well as supporting a variety of records activities.

        Principle Duties And Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

        • Perform bed and facility checks on a regular schedule and record the results of those checks in the treatment program daily log.
        • File paperwork assigned by the Counselors in the appropriate client file.
        • Inventory contents of the Medications cabinet weekly, compile a list of those items that need to be ordered for the house, and a list of medications that need to be destroyed for the Program Manager or designee.
        • Review accuracy of entries in the Medication Log nightly.
        • Make photocopies of various items as requested by administrative or other staff for program operations.
        • Compile new packets of client files in numbers sufficient to assure the Intake and Assessment Counselor has an adequate supply for admissions purposes.
        • Collect Urinalysis samples randomly and as directed by the Program Manager or designee.
        • Conduct a fire drill at least once per month, document the results and corrective action taken, and submit the documentation to the Program Manager.
        • Write a staff overview during the end of every shift, pointing out problems noted, client interaction problems, or safety problems.
        • Perform other duties as assigned.

        Program Assistant
        Location: Akeela Mental Health

        Position Summary:
        Assist clients and visitors, both personally and telephonically, with scheduling appointments and providing information about services available.  Additionally provides secretarial and clerical support to program staff.

        Principle Duties And Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

        • Listen to voicemail daily and distribute phone messages accordingly.
        • Conduct client follow-up calls as necessary.
        • Greet and assist visitors and clients, both personally and telephonically, and direct the individual or call to the appropriate staff member.
        • Schedule appointments for staff.
        • Gather billing information from clients to generate invoices
        • Process client payments
        • Prepare monthly program invoice reports for Lead Accounting Technician
        • Generate, review and reconcile monthly client accounts

          Position Summary:
          Provide therapeutic services to Primary Care clients. This includes the provision of clinical skill-based and process groups, as well as individual counseling. As required, this position will provide crisis management services to current primary care clients.

          Principle Duties And Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
          Counseling:

          • Establish a helping relationship with the client characterized by warmth, respect, genuineness, concreteness and empathy through a continuing assessment process.
          • Facilitate the client’s engagement in the treatment/recovery process.
          • Work with the client to establish realistic, achievable treatment goals consistent with achieving and maintaining recovery.
          • Encourage and reinforce all client actions that are determined to be beneficial in progressing toward treatment goals.
          • Recognize how, when, and why to use the client’s family members or significant others (as appropriate) to enhance or support the treatment plan.

            Position Summary:
            Manage the delivery of clinical care to all clients in the program through the provision of direct services, clinical supervision, routine quality assurance, program development and direction and maintenance of accreditation standards. Oversee the day-to-day operation of the program operated in a State of Alaska Department of Corrections facility.

            SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

            1. Coordinate treatment and other activities of the clinical staff.
            2. Facilitate weekly case staffing.
            3. Hire, fire and orient program staff.
            4. Provide training, consultation, and supervision of staff.
            5. Schedule clinical staff coverage including holiday and vacation.
            6. Conduct monthly case file reviews to assure quality service delivery and compliance with ADA, JCAOH, and CARF standards.
            7. Oversee program budgets and fiscal compliance.

                  Position Summary:
                  Provide case management services to clients in primary care residing in a State of Alaska Department of Corrections facility. Case management is defined as the administrative, clinical, and evaluative activities that bring the client, treatment services, and other resources to focus on issues and needs identified in the individual treatment plan. This involves collaboration with the client and significant others, coordination of treatment services, and ongoing evaluation of treatment progress and client needs.

                  Specific duties:

                  • Initiate collaboration with referral sources.
                  • Obtain and interpret all relevant screening, assessment, and initial treatment planning information.
                  • Confirm the client’s continued readiness for treatment change.
                  • Complete necessary administrative procedures for admission to treatment.
                  • Establish accurate treatment expectations for the client and involved significant others, including:
                  • Nature of services
                  • Program goals
                  • Rules regarding client conduct
                  • Schedule of treatment activities
                  • Factors affecting duration of care

                    • Certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor (CDC) I or Behavioral Health Counselor (BHC) I or higher by Alaska Commission for Behavioral Health Certification (ACBHC), or  certification by another certifying body, such as a state certifying affiliate of the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) or other similar recognized organization;  experience judged as meeting certification requirements may be accepted provided the applicant be certified within six months of hire.  For Case Managers, will accept Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) or Counselor Technician (CT) or similar certification.

                    Function:
                    Position is responsible for development, direction, management, and evaluation of the environmental, safety and security activities of the organization as well as ensuring that the infrastructure is in place to support the programs in their day to day duties.

                    Substance Abuse Counselor
                    Location: Gateway Center for Human Services, Ketchikan Alaska
                    Status: Full Time Non Exempt
                    Wage: DOE

                    Function:
                    Provide therapeutic services to clients with substance use disorders. This may involve collaboration with the client, family members or significant others, coordination of treatment and referral services, liaison activities with community resources and ongoing evaluation of treatment progress and client needs. Provide individual, group and family counseling.

                    Competencies:
                    The Primary Counselor must be able to demonstrate competency in the following areas:

                    • SKILLS:
                    • Facilitate the client’s engagement in the treatment/recovery process
                    • Deal with hostile or distraught clients of all age levels and with their family members

                    Clinical Therapist
                    Location: Ketchikan and Anchorage (2 positions available)

                    Clinical therapist is responsible for providing direct program services related to mental health education and treatment.  Assist the Program Manager with clinical functions, routine quality assurance, program development and direction, and compliance with accreditation standards. Provide direct clinical services including individual, group, family counseling for clients as an integral part of the duties of this position.

                    Principal Duties and Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

                    • Demonstrating the ability to identify and assess mental health clients.
                    • Demonstrate the ability to handle the position without continual supervision.
                    • Demonstrate the ability to function under stress.

                    • Perform case file review every 30 days.
